Wonderla and Nandi Hills

Apologies for the severe lack of updates recently!! It's certainly not due to lack of things to blog about as you will soon see from the upcoming updates.

I've been up to quite a lot recently, and I'm currently heading towards the end of my placement in India - I have just over 3 weeks left and I've been making the most of my remaining time. I've managed to do quite a few interesting trips and I have more planned.

Quite a few weeks ago, we headed over to WonderLa, which is an amausement/fun park with dry rides and waterslide type rides. It was quite good fun and the rides left me feeling slightly ill! Good job we didnt have anything to eat before going on the rides.

One of the cool things at WonderLa was the large ferris wheel which was on top of a large tower, so the views were really good!We could see over the entire park, but the waterpark looked really good from the top of the tower!
I really enjoyed WonderLa - they even had a 'rain disco' in the wet-park section. It basically was a huge room with massive showers playing music. It was segregated by sex, so couple and females were in one part and males were in another part. Andrew and Helen got into the couples part, and Ben and I were asked if we were family, so we said we were and we all ended up in the couples/females section. It was quite good fun in the end.

It was Ben's birthday, so we headed over to the Oberoi for Sunday brunch. The Oberoi has really nice gardens anda really cool waterfall with fish in the pond.

When Ben left the table for a few minutes, I told the watiter that it was his birthday and asked if they could 'make a fuss' of him by bringing a cake over or something. The waiter said he would see what he could do. About 30 minutes later, the waiter came back over and asked Ben when he should bring the cake over - it slightly spoiled the surprise a little bit, but the cake was really nice and the chocolate writing was done very well!!

At some point after that, we went to this pub/restaurant/club called The Beach, which had sand on the floor and wooden seats made out of tree stumps. It was really nice and they started playing lots of loud dance music, so by the end of the night we were all up dancing (there is a dancing ban in Bangalore, so we were happy to find another place where we could dance).

Helen and I decided to take a trip over to Nandi Hills, which is about 1.5 hours away, so headed off for a day out. It was a very surprising trip because neither of us had any idea about what to expect. The only thing I knew about it was it has a cliff edge called 'Tipu's Drop' where Tipu Sultan of Mysore used to enjoy having his prisoners pushed off over the edge.

The view was really good - it was just a shame it was so cloudy that day. It was raining in the morning, but fortunately it stopped about two hours before we got up to the top of hill.

At the top of the hill were some temples and monuments.
There were also a lot of monkeys around! We even found a load of them in the back of someones parked truck - they seemed to like it in there.
Surprisingly, we found gardens at the top, something we never expected to find - they were really nice and had some very ornate stone decorations!

I think this period spanned about 2-3 weeks, and it was a really nice time. I really enjoyed Nandi Hill and subsequently found out that people generally go there for sunset or sunrise, so if I find time, I may head back over for a sunset or sunrise to see what it is like.
